Rodney S.W. Basler, M.D.
Rodney S.W. Basler, M.D., attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln after graduating as valedictorian of Plainview High School and transferred after his junior year to accept an invitation for early admission to UNMC. He was elected as a junior into Phi Beta Kappa, and was a member of the very first Arts and Sciences Student Advisory Board.
After graduating from UNMC, Dr. Basler completed dermatology residency training at the University of Michigan and served on active duty with the U.S. Air Force. He then entered into academics as Asst. Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona. In 1978, he returned to Lincoln to begin a dermatologic practice with offices in Lincoln and Fremont, and for 30 years, has continued to serve UN-L by providing dermatologic care at the University Health Center, and consultation in dermatology to the Husker athletic teams, and being active on the Board of Trustees of the U of N Foundation. In 2000, he was honored by his peers by being elected Chairman of the Advisory Board of the 12,000 member American Academy of Dermatology, and was nominated as Vice President of the national group. Dr. Basler served on the Board of Trustees of the Dermatology Foundation and as Chairman of the group’s Annenberg Circle Committee and state Leaders’ Society. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at UNMC, mentoring medical, PA, and Nurse Practitioner students, and has also been a prolific writer, publishing over 70 articles and textbook chapters.

Kerri Otto, PA-C, MPAS
Kerri began her medical career at Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she obtained a bachelor of science degree in biology, with minors in chemistry and psychology. She then began her master’s degree training as a physician assistant at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She graduated with honors in 2001. Kerri is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and holds a Nebraska state medical License. Kerri was trained by Dr. Rodney Basler at South Lincoln Dermatology and has been employed at the clinic since 2002.
Kerri is trained in BOTOX and Juvederm (filler) injections, as well as, advanced make-up application. Along with cosmetic treatments, Kerri enjoys practicing all aspects of dermatologic medicine, including acne, eczema, rashes, psoriasis, warts and mole removals.

Liz Firestone, APRN
Liz began her nursing career at Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1991. She graduated with a diploma in Nursing in 1994. After completing her BSN from the University of Iowa in 1997, she entered graduate school and received her MSN from Drake University in 2001, specializing as a family nurse practitioner. Since then, she has been employed with the Nebraska Heart Institute, Gastroenterology Specialties, and St. Elizabeth Inpatient Medicine Services.
In January 2006, Liz joined South Lincoln Dermatology and has finally found her niche as a FNP. She administers the XTRAC laser treatment for psoriasis and vitiligo patients. She treats many dermatology conditions, including acne, eczema rashes and psoriasis. In May 2008, she received advanced training in make-up application. Liz loves helping clients of all ages with their skin care and make-up needs.

Chad Hillyer, PA-C
Chad Hillyer graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1994, and graduated from Union College as a certified physician assistant in 2001.
Chad started his professional career in Dallas, Texas in orthopedics and sports medicine, where he was part of the medical staff of the Dallas Cowboys football team and the Dallas Stars hockey team. In 2004, he moved to Omaha to be closer to his family and switched his focus to general practice with emphasis on geriatrics.
Chad joined the Fremont Dermatology team in 2007, and serves both the Fremont and Wahoo offices. He has special training in excimer laser for psoriasis and geriatric dermatology, and is available for dermatologic house calls to homebound patients and those in assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
